Please be assured that the safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. As soon as we were made aware of these social media posts, school administration immediately partnered with the Nye County Sheriff's Office to conduct a thorough investigation. Deputies thoroughly evaluated the online posts, conducted student interviews, and completed home visits.
Following this comprehensive investigation, law enforcement confirmed that there is no evidence supporting any threat to our campus. The rumors are unfounded, and school will proceed on its normal schedule tomorrow with full confidence in our campus safety. In an abundance of caution, the sheriff's department will increase the police presence at the school and in the area.
We want to thank the individuals who alerted us to these posts. This situation serves as a valuable reminder of the importance of our "See Something, Say Something" practice. While we understand the community's desire for full transparency in every situation, federal and state privacy mandates strictly protect student records and employee personnel files; as a result, specific investigative findings, student and/or personnel outcomes, disciplinary actions, and evidentiary details cannot be disclosed to complainants, parents, or the public.
During an investigation, out of an abundance of caution, we may remove students from the classroom and place employees on administrative leave; however, we work under the same fundamental principle as our legal system: Every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The safety, security, and well-being of our students across all Nye County communities remain our highest priorities. We strongly encourage parents, staff, and community members to refrain from engaging in or spreading unverified rumors, particularly across social media channels. The dissemination of speculation can hamper official investigations and cause unnecessary distress.

The safety of our students is our highest priority. We are writing to provide accurate information regarding a safety report investigated by school and district leadership in coordination with the Sheriff’s Department.
Recently, a report was made through SafeVoice regarding a potential threat. We immediately partnered with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Office of Emergency Management to investigate. Experts have determined that this was a "swatting" attempt, a hoax designed to cause disruption, which has affected numerous schools in Nevada today with identical messages.
The situation is resolved, and our campus is safe for school to proceed normally. There will be an increased law enforcement presence on campus throughout the day to provide extra support and peace of mind for our students and staff.
We are grateful for the systems that allow for quick reporting and for the swift action of our local law enforcement.

We were one click away from a very different message when the power was restored, and we really appreciate all of the parents who called asking about the situation.
I am writing to inform you about a safety situation on campus. This morning, the fire alarm system at our school was triggered.
We immediately implemented our Fire/Evacuation emergency procedure.
I want to assure you that all students and staff are safe and have been accounted for.
The Fire Department is currently on-site and investigating the cause of the alarm. There is no visible fire. We are remaining evacuated out of an abundance of caution while they complete their investigation.
The safety of our students is our highest priority. We will send another update once the Fire Department has given the "all-clear" and the situation is resolved.
